I hear that Joe Frazier, one of boxing’s most famous names, has passed away.
I never get why some folks call boxing ‘the sport of kings’. Maybe because the Kings are Midas-types lusting after gold, or they just think that the punch-drunk winner is ‘king’. Another boxing celebrity, Muhammad Ali, once said: “Boxing is a lot of white men watching two black men beat each other up.”
He had a good point.
And Jimi says:
“Hey Joe, what you doing with that glove in your hand?”

Never heard of boxing as the sport of Kings. Sport of Kings is usually referring to horse racing, altho there is an arguement that it it is polo.

Boxing is usually “The Noble Art” – but I have never seen any nobility in it.

It may be more of a Southern Hemisphere take on things. Good point about the ‘Noble Art’ – hard to see any ‘art’ in ‘floor the other guy before he floors you’. Still, there must be something that burns close to the human soul in it – big fights attract millions of viewers. What am I saying – Kardashian does the same?! Just no accounting for taste, I guess.

      Thanks for your thoughts. 🙂
